For most of my life, Pista sa Nayon has been this summer cornerstone for my family on both sides to converge in one place and gossip. The real highlight for me these last few years is the emergence of several small businesses that sell products that range in interests from pro-Filipino shirts to cultural essays. Also, there’s the fantastic food (unless you’re a vegetarian, like me) and about a collective four hours of dancing (both native and urban).
This will be my kid’s first year going to the festival and I’m excited to let her enjoy this event that usually ends up with my scattered family members telling me that I need to eat meat and rosy cheeks from getting pinched by distant relatives.
