That's right, at 10,196 feet above sea level, SugarLoafin RV/Campground & Cabins in Leadville, Colorado holds this unique title. Watch your step, it's a long way down to sea level! Here is a link in Google maps that will show you where the campground is located and the surrounding area - click here.
For RVers the drive-thru sites are over 100 feet in length. Many of the back-in spaces are large with grass and have trees or an open meadow to the rear. These spacious sites will accommodate up to triple slide outs. Back in sites are a minimum of 30 x 50 feet in size and 30 amp electric receptacle boxes are provided at all sites and nine sites have 50 amp.service. Many pop-up and van campers prefer the meadow area with a forest of lodgepole pine trees to the rear. Others enjoy the wide grassy meadow that offers a full view of an alpine sunset. SugarLoafin also has 40 x 50 foot sites with pine trees forming the borders. Cement runners or cement pads are provided at many sites-and a picnic table and a campfire ring are located on every site.

Tent campsites are in the pines and have water at the site! Raised platforms are filled with sand and make a level, dry area for your tent. This quiet, back to nature, setting is completely separate from the larger rigs so the sound of a breeze through the pines, gives you the feeling of solitude as you watch the embers from your campfire. Grass covered tent sites are available, as well as level, more rustic sites. Both are located in the main campground area. All tent sites have a picnic table and a campfire ring with a grill. Hot showers are located in our heated, well lighted bathrooms. Remember to bring warm sleeping gear, as the nights are cool, but just right for sleeping.

SugarLoafin is on Twitter and they run unadvertised specials via Twitter. Of course if you are not on Twitter yet, you can always call and ask Don if he has any unadvertised specials, which he does. Just mentioned that your are an "Examiner Camper" and you will receive 10% off your camping site and 10% off in the store. In a conversation with Don earlier this week, he felt like they would open for the season around May 15th.
