Hello, San Francisco Contemporary Fine Art fans!  Yep…it’s been a while since this writer posted anything to this site, and I do, on her behalf, humbly beg forgiveness.  Excuses?  Just one:  recovery from a small quasi-professional ‘outing’ that came with a surprising kick.  Otherwise all is well and life moves on, better and faster than ever.  What was the ‘outing’ and why should you care?  A kind reader thought it would be cool to note this writer runs a gallery in town.  Not too cool.  Anyone would naturally think, "Conflict, conflict!!!" as I certainly might, when gawdangit, the idea was to write slightly underground about the other galleries (Catharine Clark, Rena Bransten, Jack Hanley, Room for Painting Room for Paper, just to name a few...) in town this writer admires so much and the fantabulous artists they represent...  So, what to do, what to do?  Give up a really great forum for writing about everything I think is great on the Ess Eff contemporary fine art scene?  Hell, no.  Keep it short, keep it sweet, and move on.

Okay, movin' on... what’s news?  On a personally professional basis, and a firm believer in once out, always out, this writer’s gallery was invited to submit artworks by its represented artists for the upcoming sequels to last year’s blockbuster, “Twilight.”  Are we in or are we out?  We’ll know for sure when “New Moon” releases late this fall.  Works submitted included Douglass Freed’s “Immerse”, John Yoyogi Fortes’ “Christonite” and Stig Persson’s “Pet.”  Let me know if you’d like to see images of these artworks.

Other, more important, matters:  Art for Aids 2009 (artforaids.org) is in full curatorial swing.  A fundraiser for UCSF’s Aids Health Project (AHP), Art for Aids is a huge art auction bash that takes place at the posh Bonhams & Butterfields venue (food by award winning restaurateurs, all lit by beautiful sparkly chandeliers!), raising awareness and money for the needy clients of AHP, and introducing fine art works.  Art for Aids is on Facebook too, so have a look if you’re a fellow FB habituée.  Last, watch for our upcoming article on Marvin Lipofsky, Bay Area glass sculptor and bona fide member of American art history.

Ta-tah for now, it’s an unusually warm, beautiful day outside!  Run!  Drop everything, find your sunscreen and go get some rays!
