Heed the following warning: do not go to a pet store to buy housing for your rabbit. Whether you have a pet rabbit, a show rabbit, one rabbit, or 100 do not think you have to pay gargantuan prices for outlandish rabbit homes. At any fine pet store you can find house costing over hundreds of dollars equipped with ladders, bells, ropes, and inclines. The fact is you do not need all of this. Most rabbits will never want to climb to the second story of its house for a better view.
It is very possible to find affordable housing locally. While it is perfectly fine for you to buy your own wire and start construction I do not necessarily recommend it. There are several individuals who will make cages for almost as much as the material costs. Visit the local trade shows and there will be several people willing to take on cage projects for reasonable prices. The best part about it is that you can have your own designs custom made. This is especially important when you end up with more than just the first rabbit you started with. The take home message? Buy local and save money.
