Where do you start? After going to a few shows you will quickly figure out all the necessities to haul with your rabbits. If you are a beginner the more important thing to bring to a rabbit show, other than your rabbits, is the equipment you bring for them.

The first thing you need to do is figure out how many rabbits you will be taking with you. This will determine the amount of most of the items you are going to be bringing. This will decide the number of cages, water bottles, and feeders. Have these all ready to go the night before so in the early morning hours all you need to do is load your rabbits. Include hay in the cages if it will be cold or if you will be gone for a long time (it will give your rabbits something to do in their cramped traveling quarters).

The feeders and water bottles can be filled up before you leave or once you get to the show. I prefer to feed before and water once I get there. This keeps water from spilling on rabbits or in the car during the ride. Decide how many cages you will be bringing. Be sure to bring along extra feed even if you will only be gone for a day. If the feed spills or someone gets hungry it is great to have the feed with you. Use the cup you feed out of and measure out one scoop per animal, then times everything by two. This will make up for any mishaps.

If you are bringing several cages consider bringing along some kind of wagon to easily transport your animals. Pack a show table, carpet squares, scales, and tattoo guns. Bring along what I call the rabbit box, which is made up of medications, brushes, and any other little thing you can possibly think of. If you plan on taking a rabbit to sell be sure to have its pedigree.

The biggest mistake people make when packing for shows is when they forget themselves. Shows can last all day so you need to be prepared to occupy yourself. Bring chairs, coolers, newspapers, or anything that can keep you out of boredom while waiting for your turn to show.

There are probably many things that I have skipped over because I use a big plastic tub to accumulate stuff that I may need. Due to this there is little I have to worry about forgetting. Start building this tub after your first show. Only experience will help you figure out what specifically you need. Being over prepared is never a bad thing.
