July is kitten season and come the 11th it will be physically impossible for you to leave your house without adopting a furry friend. You may come home from the grocery store to find a kitten or two snoozing in your reusable sack or hiding out in your hair … stowing away in your bicycle basket, or buckled into your baby seat. That’s how hardcore Seattle cats will be lobbying for homes on July 11.
Hundreds of available cats and dogs from across Washington State will vie for a place in your heart at the 2009 Super Pet Adopt-a-Thon at the Kent Animal Shelter, 21615 64th Ave. S, Kent, WA 98032, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Pet micro-chipping, pet licensing, animal trainers, and pet product vendors will be on site. There will also be a raffle to benefit the Animal Angel Fund.
If your star-crossed companion doesn’t turn out to be in Kent that day, head over to the Purrfect Pals Kitten Shower from 11 AM to 4 PM. Kittens will be available for adoption at Pet Pros, 13619 Mukilteo Speedway, Lynnwood, WA 98037 (just off Hwy 99 between Food Emporium and Bartell's Drugs). While you won’t be forced to play inane shower games, it would be nice if you could bring a little something for the precious babies. Pet Pros will be collecting kitten food and care items needed to support the kitten boom at Purrfect Pals.
