Body art by Joanne Gair. From Kabuki theater to henna tattoos, many cultures use body art as a means of expression. From February 8 to April 20, Tuaca Italian liqueur will bring its Body Art Ball Evolution tour to nine cities throughout the United States. Chicago, sadly, is not one of them. The tour schedule is here.

An eye-catching fusion of art and performance, Tuaca Body Art Ball Evolution is a choreographed stage show featuring painted performers illustrating the transformation of the human body into a canvas.

The show is produced by Dallas-based Chris and Candy Productions.

The visual artists are abstract, airbrush and tattoo artists who explore the evolution of various body art forms over time and in different cultures. Performers include familiar faces/bodies from television’s "So You Think You Can Dance" and "America’s Got Talent," as well as performance artists skilled in fabric-flying and Afro-Brazilian martial arts.

According to Josh Hayes, Tuaca brand manager, the event, "represents the adventurous spirit of Tuaca.” Tuaca is an tasty, imported liqueur that combines Italian brandy with citrus and vanilla.

World-renowned body painter and make-up artist Joanne Gair is a spokesperson for the tour. You probably remember Demi Moore wearing nothing but a suit of body paint on the cover of Vanity Fair’s August 1992 issue. That was Ms. Gair's work, as are the painted-on swimsuits in the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Tuaca has also commissioned Ms. Gair to create a special piece of body art to headline the New York City media kick-off party (January 27) for Body Art Ball Evolution.

Chicago isn't getting this because, apparently, we don't drink enough Tuaca. Get with it, people!
