The fourth of July means cookouts and fireworks, perhaps some camping or fishing, or even outdoor concerts and festivals. However, everyone knows that this holiday doesn't really get swinging until the late afternoon/early evening.

So, what to do before that? Well - most theatre companies have chosen to not schedule a performance on the 4th of July, but Performance Now Theatre Company is still going on. They have an afternoon show of Evita at 2:00, so you can see the show, then go enjoy your BBQ and fireworks. Sounds like a really fun day to me!

Performance Now Theatre Company presents
Evita
The hit musical based on the life of Evita Duarte, the most beloved and hated woman in Argentina.
Sat. July 4 at 2 p.m. (**no 7:30 p.m. performance on July 4)
Lakewood Cultural Center,
470 S. Allison Parkway

Tickets are $24 adults, $20 student/ senior and $18 for ages 12 and under.

The story begins with Eva Peron’s early life, touches on her acting career, and then it takes the viewer through her rise to power and eventual death. Juan Peron’s rise to the office of President, Evita’s political partnership with Peron, her domestic and foreign policy, charity work, feminist involvement, and eventual ascent to the spiritual leader of the nation. Includes the hit Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina.
