There is no shortage of really cool and different performance spaces in Denver. Vintage Theatre, the John Hand Theatre, The Bug Theatre, Evergreen Players, Miners Alley – all these theatre spaces are unique and offer different types of programming. However there is one theatre space that is very much deserving of your attention – Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret. There are not a lot of true Cabaret theatres in town, and Lannie’s sets the bar high. They are located in the historic D&F Clocktower in downtown Denver and they have more variety on their schedule than… well, something with a lot of variety.

Lannie’s is bringing back, by popular demand, Life as a Fabulous Disappointment by Todd Barnes. Barnes first presented this show on October 4th, and it played to a sold out and very appreciative audience. Now, Lannie’s is bringing it back for one more night. Life as a Fabulous Disappointment is the story of Tina LeGrand and the man under the make-up, Todd Barnes. Todd, a singer, actor, and female impersonator, brings  his alter ego, Tina, to the stage in a show filled with comedy, life reflection, and overcoming obstacles. He enlists the help of singer, song writer, and pianist Daniel Dillard, and together they present a collection of modern Broadway, classic pop, and cabaret music.

Barnes is very thankful to Lannie’s and very excited to bring this show back. Life as a Fabulous Disappointment’s initial debut was met with rave reactions from the audience. Barnes does feel that it is important to note that this is really not just a “Gay Show” and that it has a little bit of everything in it. There is something for everyone in this musical production. Really, it is just like Lannie’s – which also has a little something for everyone. Depending on the night, you can catch comedy, burlesque, jazz, big band, and more. So really, it seems that Lannie’s is the perfect match for Todd Barnes, “Lannie's wants a place that people of all walks of life can share their talent and I think that is rare in Denver. It is the only venue of its kind in this city.”
