There used to be a time when simply putting up a poster of a new show would draw attention. However, times have changed. Theatre companies all over town are experimenting with new ideas and new ways to market their shows. These new ideas are more technology based, more creative, and more fun than looking at a poster on a coffee shop wall.

May I present my top 4 choices for most creative marketing of a show:

4. Hunger Artists - These creative artists have a shop set up on their website for people to buy t-shirts and posters of the current and upcoming shows. What is better then walking, human advertisement?

3. Spotlight Theatre Company - Spotlight has a podcast feature on their website. If you are thinking about attending a Spotlight show, you can go in and listen to actual audience reactions after they have seen it.

2. Performance Now - Performance Now has been harnessing the massive power of YouTube to put up trailers of their shows. Lots of theatre companies all over the country have been experimenting with this, and it is certainly a great way to get some attention.

1. Buntport Theatre - They are known for trying new things and this one probably takes the cake - in honor of their new show Musketeer they have a trailer video, but that is not all. You can go online and play their Musketeer online game featuring characterizations of actors in the show! Now that is creative.

So there you have it, I wonder what other new and creative ideas our theatre companies will come up with. What would get your attention?
