Friday night was the final procession of the Lamplighters to the Temple in Second Life's Burning Life 2009, and as usual it culminated in a wild drumming and dancing conflagration at the Temple. This picture shows one of the dancers; there are twenty more pictures in the slide show below.
The procession got off to a rocky start, with some terrible lag. It took this writer, who was a Burning Life ranger with the task of clearing the road to make way for the dancers, several minutes just to move to the front of the gathering dancers. All around, avatar feet were making the motions of walking, but were just walking in place. It was a difficult and not at all promising start, but finally dancers managed to move across the first sim crossing, where movement became easier. By the time they reached the Temple, there was no lag and avatars were free to dance and drum with abandon.
If you didn't get the opportunity to witness this spectacle, be sure to watch it, or better yet join the dancing yourself, next year in Burning Life 2010. For this writer, it's been a highlight of Burning Life 2009.
You can see twenty more Lamplighter photographs in the slide show below.
