'Twilight: New Moon' cast to host Nashville music festival

Jackson Rathbone and his band, 100 Monkeys, will be hosting the NewCon music festival in Nashville

Jackson Rathbone and some of his fellow Twilight Saga: New Moon castmates will be hosting the NewCon Festival in Nashville, Tennessee from November 6-8. It was announced in a press release on Friday, October 23 that Rathbone, who plays the character of Jasper Hale, a member of the Cullen clan in New Moon, and his band, 100 Monkeys, will be headlining the festival.

The weekend includes Twilight- and New Moon-inspired art competitions as well as poetry and fan fiction contests. 100 Monkeys will also be part of an open jam session on Saturday, November 7. Anyone attending the festival can bring their instrument to jam with the band for two hours. The band will pick one lucky fan to join them on stage Saturday night during their concert at The Wildhorse in downtown Nashville.

"We wanted to do something different that inspires people to be creative," said Rathbone. "NewCon offers all kinds opportunities for people - whether they're writers, musicians, or artists - to share their talents in an interactive way that's fun."

Award winning artist Kelly Garrett Rathbone (Jackson's sister), will be one of the judges at the art competition and a panelist during Q&A sessions over the weekend. The winners of the writing and art contests will get a private meet & greet with all attending New Moon cast members and have their winning pieces signed by them, as well.

There are only 400 tickets available to the weekend event which is being held at the Renaissance Hotel & Convention Center. More cast members and bands will be announced every week leading up to the event. For more information about the festival, visit www.NewCon2009.com.
