Do I think the world would be better without religion? Absolutely. Do I think we will ever see a world without religion? Nope. I think that belief in a deity is incredibly egocentric thinking. Humans are so special and wonderful that they had to have been created by God. To believers, that is the absolute truth, and they will not budge from that belief. They will retain that view regardless of any arguments presented. They will ignore or try to negate evidence that does not support their thinking and promote "evidence" that does. They will ignore evidence in favor of simplistic notions of an all-knowing, all-powerful Sky Daddy when consideration of the evidence would require them to modify their beliefs.

You know, we can debate the topic of the existence/nonexistence of a deity till we're blue in the face.  The bottom line is that neither side can prove its viewpoint.  However, scientific evidence of all sorts makes the atheist viewpoint a hell of a lot more feasible than that of the theist.
