Do you want to meet someone this weekend? Take your time when you’re out and about. Look at who’s around you, make eye contact, and smile. Start a brief conversation, and see how they respond. Flirt a little, if it feels right. Be prepared to move on, and have fun! If this seems too daunting, head over to Under The Sun Studios in Concord on Sunday evening, and shake off your shyness by taking their improv workshop, listed below.

San Francisco: For those of you who can’t get up quite that early on Sunday mornings, check out Jazz At Intersection at the de Young Museum: Richard Howell Quintet will be playing outside at the de Young Cafe Terrace in Golden Gate Park. For the third consecutive year, Intersection for the Arts and the de Young join forces in a unique collaboration to present eight family-friendly outdoor Sunday afternoon performances. Experience some of the most exciting Bay Area jazz musicians in beautiful Golden Gate Park.

Richard Howell is a lively force on the local scene, tirelessly devoted to spreading the jazz gospel, with an accent on African influences and spontaneous creativity. His Coltrane-inspired saxophone playing is in high demand - he's played with Etta James, Cecil Taylor, Don Cherry, Buddy Guy, among others. His all-star closely knit quintet match their powerful stage presence with equal parts spirituality and meditation. Click here for further details.
