Do you want to meet someone this weekend? Take your time when you’re out and about. Look at who’s around you, make eye contact, and smile. Start a brief conversation, and see how they respond. Flirt a little, if it feels right. Be prepared to move on, and have fun! If this seems too daunting, head over to Under The Sun Studios in Concord on Sunday evening, and shake off your shyness by taking their improv workshop, listed below.

 Saturday, September 13
Millbrae: Rich Gosse’s Single’s Extravaganza at the Clarion Hotel attracts a large crowd of singles. Beginning at 7:30, representatives of Bay Area singles organizations will discuss  "The Bay Area Singles Scene." This will be followed by a keynote address: "I Can't Get No Satisfaction," with Jerusha Stewart, author of The Single Girl's Manifesta. Dance to the music of DJ HickeyB from 9pm-Midnight. For more information go to www.thepartyhotline.com.

Sunday, September 14
San Francisco: Sunday Streets promises to be a fertile meeting ground for singles in San Francisco this Sunday from 9am - 1pm. Street closures from The Transamerica Redwood Park, going up the Embarcadero, include a variety of single-friendly activities.

For example, dance lessons get you in touch with your body, and help you exude an aura that allures! You might even meet someone during the lesson! San Francisco: For those of you who can’t get up quite that early on Sunday mornings, check out Jazz At Intersection at the de Young Museum: Richard Howell Quintet will be playing outside at the de Young Cafe Terrace in Golden Gate Park. For the third consecutive year, Intersection for the Arts and the de Young join forces in a unique collaboration to present eight family-friendly outdoor Sunday afternoon performances. Experience some of the most exciting Bay Area jazz musicians in beautiful Golden Gate Park.

Richard Howell is a lively force on the local scene, tirelessly devoted to spreading the jazz gospel, with an accent on African influences and spontaneous creativity. His Coltrane-inspired saxophone playing is in high demand - he's played with Etta James, Cecil Taylor, Don Cherry, Buddy Guy, among others. His all-star closely knit quintet match their powerful stage presence with equal parts spirituality and meditation. Click here for further details.

East Bay: Want to be more spontaneous?  Too shy for words?  Stuck inside your head? Improv classes are a fun way to meet people, while becoming more outgoing! Improv at Under The Sun Studios will teach you skills to use every day for the rest of your life, including saying what’s on your mind and not being afraid of making mistakes.

Improv classes are a great place to meet someone special.  A fan says, “Improv has made my romantic life a blast.  Talking to people has become so much easier. I’m not afraid to put myself out there anymore, and there is never a struggle to decide where to take my Saturday night date. Improv shows are the most affordable and entertaining place to take my someone special.” For more info, click here.
