Costumes On Haight: everything you need for Halloween

Haight Street is the only place you need to go in order to find or create a great costume. While you are outfitting yourself for Halloween, take advantage of the opportunity to flirt with whoever is next to you. Use an off-hand line, such as “Do these wings make me look fat?” as you smile at an attractive stranger.

Costumes on Haight, which rents and sells costumes all year, was packed with people of all ages this Sunday. You could easily strike up a conversation with other shoppers or the friendly staff. The variety of costumes and accessories is astounding. You can be SFPD, a Hawaiian dancer with a shell bikini top, or a priest, for starters. Do you need a mask, hat, cape or gown? What about an inflatable chest? Whether it’s fake blood, makeup or teeth of all kinds, Costumes on Haight has it. It’s a great place--whether you’re looking for inspiration, an accessory, or a whole costume.

Piedmont Boutique is full of fun, sensual and glitzy accessories, costumes and clothing. Boas, feathers of all kinds, wigs and colorful hats adorn the walls. Rhinestone jewelry, from tiaras to bracelets and earrings are displayed under a glass counter. If you’d like a conversation piece dangling from your ear, choose from a smorgasbord that includes giant high heels, skeletons, and pink flamingos. New Orleans style masks complement the abundance of sparkles, shine and bling. Women make up most of the customers—men take note!
