It's been reported that Congressional Republicans have rescinded their offer for Sarah Palin to speak at the annual House-Senate dinner on June 8 in Washington. Palin allegedly was indecisive in confirming her participation. The group has decided to have Newt Gingrich instead.
The campaign committee was reported to be so irritated with Palin's handling of the situation that they didn't even bother to tell her that she was kicked to the curb. This appears to be yet another item on her growing laundry list of missteps that has shaken members of the GOP's confidence in her ability to lead. Just last week Politico reported that Palin's supporters in both Alaska and DC are scratching their heads about Palin’s relationship with capital insiders. They should. Didn’t she run for the Vice-Presidency as a "maverick" and Washington “outsider?” Why is she now cavorting with capital insiders like high-profile Democrat John Coale?
But I digress. Back to the dinner. This is the group's premier event to raise money for GOP House and Senate candidates. Surely it would be in Palin’s best interest to be there. Too bad for her, but it’s a great opportunity for New Gingrich to reposition himself to rise again.
