When Taraji P. Henson walked the red carpet at the Oscars on Sunday night, my long-time male friend, whom we'll call "The Sheriff," was nearly fit to be tied.  "Who is THAT?!" he exclaimed.  I am sure he wasn't the only one.

Taraji P. Henson, nominated for her work in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, looked absolutely stunning at the Oscars.  Taraji, like many other nominated actresses, opted for classic beauty that made a statement quietly, but strongly.

Most notably, the makeup worn by Taraji P. Henson chose one feature, her eyes, to emphasize.  To recreate the eye makeup worn to the Oscars by Taraji P. Henson, look for a smokey grey or charcoal eyeshadows, such as those found in Benefit's Smokin' Eyes Kit. Apply the lightest grey to the lower lid, and belnd the darker grey into the corner of the eyes. Use a havy line of liquid eyeliner over the shadow, and several coats of mascara to complete the eye makeup.

You will notice that Taraji P. Henson has the world's most perfect eyebrows.  And rather than fill them in with a dark shade that is identical to her hair color, she has opted for subtle, light brow makeup to frame her dramatic eyes.  More women should take cues from Taraji here, because lighter brows lift the face and make it appear more youthful.

Taraji P. Henson's makeup for the lips is neutral and soft, so as not to compete with the eye makeup.  Look for shades that closely match your own lip color, but with a touch of shimmer or shine to enhance what you already have.
