Every holiday makeup collection has their own distinct look and feel, but for 2009, holiday makeup is every bit about functionality and wearability.  The 2009 holiday makeup collection from NARS is no exception.

Filled with lush moss greens, ethereal, shimmery golds, and deep, enchanting plums, the 2009 NARS holiday collection appeals to everyone who wants a wearable, but fun holiday palette. Unlike some collections, which tend to go over-the-top with glitter and glitz, the 2009 NARS makeup collection provides shimmer and shine without looking dated.

The holiday eye makeup heads up the NARS collection with shades that are intended to create a smoky, sultry look.  Presented in eyeshadow duos, each shade works beautifully on the lower lid, or with an angled brush to create a soft eyeliner.

One of the easiest ways to maximize use of the new holiday makeup collection is to layer the sultry shadows over one of the Soft Touch Shadow Pencils.  Simply apply the Shadow Pencil over the entire lower lid, then press the corresponding shadow over the top.  The result is a deeper, more shimmery shadow.

Pairing a nude lip with a dark eye is a beautiful look, but often the easy way out. Recognizing this, NARS has created a holiday lip collection that features two velvet, matte pencils rich with color.  Those who dare to make a statement can feel comfortable rocking a red lip and dark eye have the option to do so with the new collection, while others can play down the lips by adding a favorite lip gloss over the pencil.

While the other parts of the NARS holiday collection for 2009 stand out and compete against other popular collections, the holiday red nail polish released by NARS is rather run-of-the-mill.  Rouge Andalou is a beautiful red, but hardly anything new.  Those who want a classic holiday red nail polish won't be disappointed, but they won't find it to be anything to write home about, either.
