Though these economic times may force you to curb the entertainment budget, it is nonetheless important to reward yourself and your family as a sign that you are still open to receiving blessings from the Universe. Music can be the perfect outlet that provides the physical release, the mental and emotional vacation, and the spiritual connection with others.

Although you may not be very conscious about it, the rhythm and beat of music have a calming effect, promoting relaxation, helping your mind get into a meditative state, and providing you with a more optimistic outlook and positive focus.

Music and stress do not seem to coexist; your mind is in a different state and your serotonin levels are increased when you are actively listening to music. To maximize the effects of music, you can take a "sound bath," exercise with your headphones on, and visualize music washing away stress as you listen to it.

With respect to children, music has been shown to enhance confidence, promote interpersonal skills, and improve relationships with friends and family. Kids naturally lose themselves in music and allow their bodies to move to the rhythm without feeling conscientious about it.

Take time today to listen to music and free your mind, body, heart, and soul. Let go of stress, especially as it relates to your finances. Set the intention to release all aspects of financial stress from your whole being. If you can, schedule a trip with your family to a local musical performance. Nurture your inner child and have fun with your kids; they already know the healing power of music.

Upcoming family-friendly New Orleans musical event:

The New Orleans based  "Imagination Movers" will perform again at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on April 25th on the Acura Stage at 11:25AM.

Inspiring children with creative thinking and wacky gadgets, the Imagination Movers are a musical group with their own Playhouse Disney television series. The four member crew includes Dave Poche, Rich Collins, Scott Durbin, and Scott "Smitty" Smith. Each Mover has a signature gadget which is utilized throughout the show to help "brainstorm" and solve "idea emergencies."

The Imagination Movers not only produce high-energy music with an interactive rock and hip-hop style but they also promote use of imagination and problem solving skills. The Movers are well-liked and appreciated by both kids and parents.

Affirmations: I enjoy listening to music. The power of music frees my mind, moves my body, heals my emotions, and soothes my soul. I sing and dance with joy and have a blast doing it! I creatively express myself with dance and song. I am completely relaxed and at peace when I listen to music. The rhythm and beat of music help me maintain my bliss.
