Feel empowered through present moment awareness.Remaining conscious and living in the here and now is a habit that takes time and purposeful effort to develop. Your thoughts, feelings, and actions are often run by automatic and reflexive responses.

When you decide to make improvements in yourself, old and ingrained patterns must be examined and declared as something useful and healthy or as something that no longer serves your greater good.

If your intuition and internal motivation guide you in a different direction from where you are currently headed, your renewed energy and sense of self will consciously or subconsciously draw into your life opportunities to dismantle self-destructive ways and steer you toward self-empowering situations.

You can only ignore what is in your best interest for so long until one day the universe will leave you no other option. Before the situation becomes critically inevitable, you can learn how to take advantage of present moment awareness and choose more wisely and proactively now.

Healthy decision-making on a day-to-day basis serves as the blueprint for creating the future reality you truly desire and deserve.

Instead of becoming a passive prisoner to your circumstances, use the power of conscious here-and-now engagement to assert yourself, build confidence, enhance personal productivity, and manifest a life of passion and purpose.

Fully engaging in the present moment increases your awareness of underlying fears, sub-par standards, self-defeating thoughts, and maladaptive behaviors.

Though the harmful physical habits are more easily recognizable (i.e. you smoke a pack of cigarettes per day), you may not readily realize your own mental, emotional, and spiritual patterns that undermine your inherent value, potential, and worthiness.

By becoming acutely aware of your thoughts, verbal responses, bodily sensations, and automatic behaviors, you can learn which ones are actually hurting you and which ones are more affirming.

Developing conscious, present awareness is a tool to stop self-devaluing patterns and replace them with positive, empowering intentions.

If you slip and say an often repeated negative remark such as "I am so sick and tired of ...," you can immediately stop and declare a statement like, "Universe, please cancel, clear, and delete that previous negative affirmation and replace it with 'I choose healthy activities, make positive changes, and feel energized.'"

The external experiences you are involved in match the same energy and intentions, subconscious or conscious, that you sense internally. If you want to attract love, success, respectful relationships, or valuable connections, then you first need to feel, think, and exude self-love, success, respect, and value.

Start reminding yourself to be engaged in each moment by using sticky notes, posting inspirational magnets, reading daily personal development emails, researching books on spiritual journeys, or attending classes on your natural interests.

You can also use yoga, meditation, journaling, and deep breathing exercises to keep your focus on the present. Set your watch to chime at the top of every wakeful hour, take three deep breaths, and re-center yourself in what's happening at that particular time.

Are you obsessively worrying about something? Can you choose to be happy by saying a few affirmations and visualizing yourself in a joyful state? Are you doing something that's healthy and empowering or draining and disconnecting?

The more you realize how important any given moment is, the more you will take advantage of the power of choice and the more you will see yourself and life change for the better.

Affirmations: I am in charge of my life. My responsibility is to empower myself, learn and grow as a person, and make healthy choices that foster my development. In any given moment, I have the power of choice, and I use that power to enhance my purpose, passion, and sense of self. I deserve and am worthy of good. Present moment awareness allows me to keep track of my thoughts, feelings, actions, and connections and realign them with health and well-being.
