Gay Penguins Adopt!
Two gay Humboldt penguins, Z and Vielpunkt, at the Bremerhaven Zoo in Northern Germany have successfully hatched an egg rejected by its biological parents. The gay penguins incubated and cared for the orphan egg until its hatching.
In a statement by the zoo, "Z and Vielpunkt, both males, gladly accepted their 'Easter present' and began straight away with hatching the egg. Since the chick arrived they are behaving in the same way as one would expect a heterosexual couple to do. Both happy fathers are now diligently handling the everyday care ... of their adopted offspring.”
In 2005, the zoo imported four female penguins to entice Z and Veilpunkt - and four other gay penguins – to mate. Without success.
