It's going to take some time for me to compile a full list of upcoming contests for the future months, but I thought it would be worth mentioning that the deadline has nearly arrived for The Actor's Theatre of Louisville's National Ten Minute Play Contest.
The guidelines are simple: playwrights may submit one play under ten pages that has never recieved an equity production (musicals, previous submissions, and children's plays are also excluded). There is no entry fee, and first prize is the prestigious Heideman Award and $1000. All plays will be considered for the Humana Festival of New American Plays, City Theatre’s Summer Shorts Festival, and the Short Cuts Tour. Plays with minimal set, costume, and prop requirements (with actors in the age range of 18-28) will also be considered for production in the Annual Actor's Theatre Apprentice Showcase.
Manuscripts need to be typed and individually bound or stapled. The title page must include your name, the play title, an address, phone number, and (if possible) email address. No SASE is requested since the contest is unable to provide individual play criticism. There are no electronic submissions, so mail your manuscripts to:

The deadline is November 1st, 2009. Your manuscript must be postmarked by this day, so there's still a week left! Best of luck to all contestants.
