So, what'll it be in 2009? Okra, beets, cucumbers or beans? You still have some time to vote on which vegetable Chicagoans will grow with pride as a part of One Seed Chicago this year.

While you are mulling over which vegetable should be graced with this title, take a look at their stump speeches. Has your decision been swayed by any of the candidates? When you are on the website you can also cast your vote for one of the vegetables and make sure to sign yourself up for a free packet of the 2009 One Seed Chicago.

Once you decide to grow the winner, you'll have plenty of time to treat that plant with enough TLC to earn it entry rights to the County Fair at Garfield Park Conservatory in September. You can compete with other backyard, community and school gardeners to see who's okra is the biggest, or who has the most beautiful colored beets. Won't that be fun? Are you up for the challenge?
