Discover Switzerland in Indiana! Named after the capital of Switzerland by its first settlers, Berne Indiana will celebrate Swiss Heritage by hosting the 38th Annual Swiss Days Festival. Bring the family and enjoy Polka dancing, children’s activities such as a kid's pedal pull on Friday, and a big wheel race on Saturday. There are many free factory and business tours on Friday. The tour that I would recommend is the Swissland Cheese Company on Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Other activities include a quilt show, stein toss, horse pulling contest, craft vendors, sidewalk sales, parade, and musical performances on the downtown stage. If you are in the mood for some good entertainment, The Sound of Music will be performed at the high school auditorium. Of course one of the best things about going to any festival is the food, and Berne has an assortment of great Swiss foods. Be sure to try one of Neuenschwander's Famous Brats, Village Apple Dumplings, Hot Wisconsin Cheese, and Stutzman's Homemade ice cream. The festival will end with a fireworks display on Sunday July 26th at 9:30 pm at South Adams High School
