Travel down to Southern Indiana this Friday November 6th, Saturday, November 7th. or Sunday, November 8th for the Gasthof Christmas Extravaganza and Craft Bazaar. Gasthof Amish Village has been called "A Southern Indiana property of distinction." With just one visit, you will be fascinated by the wonderful scenery and generous, friendly people that make Montgomery their home. Talented craftspeople will be there to offer their wares to make your gift giving or holiday decorating easy because you can do all your shopping in one trip

The Christmas Extravaganza and Craft Bazaar will last from 11am-8pm on Friday and Saturday and 11am-3pm on Sunday. Admission is free. Enjoy live gospel music, craft booths, enclosed flea markets, unique shops, carriage rides, barrel train rides for the children, delicious Amish food and baked goods.

The shops at Gasthof Village include Der Heuboden gift shop, that has a wonderful assortment of handcrafted quilts, Amish-made furniture and crafts, quilting items, antiques, candles, kitchen essentials, spices, candy and gifts. Another great shop is Country Ruffles and Victorian Lace featuring Dorothy Ruffles curtains as well as lamps, lampshades, baby and wedding gifts, quilts, and quaint home decor. Visit their exclusive Doll Room while you are there, it's a little girl's dream come true.

Of course in every Amish community the food is outstanding, and Gasthof Village Restaurant is no exception. The spacious Gasthof Amish Restaurant and Bakery are known for its Amish recipes and quality food. The building itself is amazing, built of Indiana oak and poplar and framed by Amish carpenters using mortise and tenon joints and oak pegs. The large buffet includes a salad bar, hot food bar and an Amish dessert bar. The bakery makes fresh homemade pies, bread, noodles, cookies and cakes daily. Be sure to purchase some homemade apple butter and peanut butter spread to take home! The restaurant is open on Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 9 pm and Sunday 11 am to 3 pm.

So take a day trip this weekend to Montgomery, and enjoy some great shopping, fabulous food and entertainment! You will most certainly be glad you did. It's a favorite trip of mine, and sure to be one of yours too.
