After extensive research for a quality product, the two creators of Navy & Lavender Michelle Lederer and Michal Mufson have created a brand that won’t be compromised. From granola to sun block, to the grosgrain ribbon that adorns every bag, they make sure of its quality. At a quant café in SoHo near their offices, the ladies of Navy and Lavender shared the vision behind the product.

Ladies, I believe you are the answer to the gift that keeps on giving. Tell me about the bags and why you think they are perfect for brides especially destination brides?

We specialize in creating stylish, personalized totes that will have guests talking long after the wedding is over. For example, if you are having a beach destination wedding, our “Beach Bliss” tote has everything your guests need: sunscreen, saltwater taffy, energy bars, playing cards, and of course, water. If you are planning a hometown wedding, our “Country Charm” tote has organic lemonade,a bag of scrumptious chocolate chip cookies, tasty organic apple rings, a classic rice crispy treat, a fun backyard game. And of course to keep cool, a large country fan with a personalized tag. A great add-on to all the totes is the N&L Rescue Me Kit, which comes stocked with all the essential amenities for a stress-free weekend.

No matter which you choose, every tote is personalized with the basics for your guests to enjoy. Also when your guests are walking around your wedding locale and they spot you signature tote, they know instantly it’s a fellow party-goer. It’s the perfect ice-breaker!

So in reality you take this part off the brides “To Do” list when she is having a destination wedding?

Absolutely. Once she picks what she wants, she never has to think about it again. We take care of everything. Let’s face it, the bride has so much to do, we take this part off her already over-flowing plate.

Also, using Navy & Lavender to create your welcome totes not only eliminates the stress and extra work for the bride, but it also enables her to incorporate her wedding colors or theme in a beautiful and creative way in yet another element of her event.

So why in this economy should a bride use your service instead of doing it herself?

In light of the current financial climate, couples more than ever want to accommodate and show their appreciation to guests for making the extra effort to join them for their weddings. Therefore, welcome gifts are one area they don’t want to skimp on. Even a hometown wedding can be a destination for some, involving travel and hotel rooms. So a destination doesn’t just mean the Caribbean. Greeting guests with a beautiful, flawless welcome bag when they arrive is a great way of saying, “We appreciate you coming all this way to celebrate with us and are so thrilled to share our special day with you.” It’s really just a wonderful and thoughtful way to show guests your gratitude.

Can you tell the couples how your products are shipped?

First we recommend that they order their bag type (Beach Bliss, Country Charm, or Winter Romance, etc.) and that they do this 6 weeks or more in advance. After that, we will ship directly to the bride (if she wants) or to the bridal planner/hotel 1 week before the wedding. If the couple is in NYC, they can pick them up or we can hand deliver them to their hotel so the totes are there before the guests arrive. This way when the guests register at the hotel they will get their room key and this wonderful welcome gift that the couple has created for them.

Do you consider your company environmentally friendly?

We've definitely seen a trend of brides going green and being more
eco-conscious. Instead of using plastic or polyurethane, our welcome tote bags are made of sturdy canvas and are naturally biodegradable. Guests are sure to reuse them far after the wedding is over, which makes them more efficient than using a paper bag for your welcome gifts. On top of that, our totes are all made right here in the U.S.A, so you know you are supporting local businesses.

If you had to describe your company in three words, what would they be?

Personalized, Sophisticated, Whimsical.

These are truly the best bridal welcome bags I’ve seen to date. The ladies of Navy & Lavender are all about personalization of a
unique assortment of welcome totes with fun themes and beautiful
color schemes. With Navy & Lavender, almost all your guests’ needs are ‘in the bag’.
