Is your special someone a reader & fan of Dan Brown who is just waiting for The Lost Symbol to hit the shelves at midnight to once again transport them on the twists and turns of the story line? Surprise them with a quick fall vacation to Washington DC, the opening setting of the story.  Set out to read the book together while following the footsteps of  Robert Langdon as he embarks on the mystery/treasure hunt of The Lost Symbol

As soon as you arrive in Washington DC, start with the Capitol Crypt where he finds the severed hand of his old mentor, Peter Solomon.  Go directly to that large circular room on the ground floor of the Capitol, lying   directly beneath the United States Capitol rotunda which includes a museum and gift shop. There you can pick up souvenirs and postcards for your less fortunate friends who have to stay home and imagine reading The Lost Symbol on location.  Meanwhile you will follow Robert Langdon’s footsteps in the nation's capitol as he pursues the villain, a sinister psycho named Mal’akh.  Ah, but let's not get ahead of the story, one has to read The Lost Symbol to see where their travels will take them after the Capitol Crypt....

Getting There:    For sub-$400 per person, you can get a ticket from Seattle to Baltimore/Washington (BWI) on Continental Air or into Reagan National (DCA) on AirTran, leaving around noon September 15, 2009.  Flight prices and availability will vary according to your location.  Stay at a hotel near the Capitol so you and your loved one have easy access without renting a car for getting to see the sights in the nation's capitol.  Many hotels start at prices just over $200 per night up to $500 per night. An example is the Red Roof Inn which is approximately eigth-tenths of a mile from the Capitol.

Your Dan Brown fan might be so enthralled that you would buy a copy of The Lost Symbol to share in a romantic get-away in the opening locale of the story while reading the book together, that it might just lead to some of the most steamy and romantic moments your relationship will experience this year.
