How-to save money at Starbucks: Sip & Save
As the recession and tightening of personal budgets continues, Starbucks is battling back with a tip sheet on how to Sip & Save. Here are 10 ways consumers can save at Starbucks without having to give up the caffeine treat. These tips come from the Starbucks baristas:
- Don't believe the $4 coffee myth. Approximately 50% of the Starbucks drinks are under $3 and 1/3 are under $2.
- BYOC: Bring Your Own Cup to save 10 cents.
- Play barista and reinvent your latte - Save 85 cents by ordering a brewed coffee with steamed milk--also known as a caffe misto.
- Enjoy a refill for 50 cents or for FREE! Registered Starbucks card holders get brewed coffee refills for free so sit back and enjoy your cup in the store and have another one on the house. Or, pay 50 cents if you're not a registered Starbucks card holder.
- Brew your own: For about 30 cents per cup, you can take home a variety of Starbucks coffee and brew it at home for even more savings.
- Enjoy a coffee press for two - At about $3 per brew, a coffee press yields about 4 8-ounce cups and costs less than 2 grande coffees.
- Get a snack "pair" and save up to 90 cents - pairings are only $3.95 and served all day long
- Save $1.95 by returning for an afternoon treat. Bring your morning receipt in after 2 PM to get a $2 cold beverage--a savings of $1.95. Hurry, this offer expires on September 28.
- Use a registered Starbucks card for FREE customizations, like syrup or soy.
- The best value of all, if your drink is made to your liking, they will make it over for you so you can enjoy it.
Bring it home: Starbucks has done a good job of getting different cost-saving options in place in their business. What can you do with yours? Think of small ways that can help your customers save a little money. They will appreciate it. You can even go as far as making a top ten list of your own and posting at your business. Be creative.
