First up is a new product offering from Atkins Nutritionals, Inc. in their Advantage line of low carb bars called Caramel Chocolate Nut Roll. This is the closest to a Baby Ruth candy bar I've ever seen in a low carb offering; very good and satisfying but not as sweet as a real candy bar. Perfect mixture of caramel and peanuts and the chocolate/cocoa flavored coating perfected the trifecta of flavors in this bar. This is a big bar so it can easily be divided into two portions; one for now, one for later! This is the type of snack that I like better when it is refrigerated; gives it a more dense texture. The nut roll bar has 8g of fiber, 8g of protein and 8g sugar alcohols (3 net carbs; ok for all phases of the Atkins plan).

This second bar from Atkins is called Sweet & Salty Almond Crunch Bar. I had high hopes for this bar because it doesn't have chocolate and would be a perfect carry along in my sports bag for emergencies. I was not disappointed when I opened this bar at a tennis match after it having been in my bag for over a week. Crunchy, filling, sweet, salty, and not melted; all in all it was exactly what I had hoped. Some have complained about the wrapper sticking to the bar but I didn't find it to be an issue at all. This sweet and salty combination has 5g fiber, 6g sugar alcohols and 7g protein (4 net carbs; phases 2, 3, and 4)!
