First up is a new product offering from Atkins Nutritionals, Inc. in their Day Break line of low carb bars called Chocolate Oatmeal Fiber Bar. After opening the package, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the product actually looked like the picture on the wrapper; many times the end product doesn't look like what you bought. The bar resembled many of their other bars that consist of those tiny soy crisps but also has some rolled oats and small chocolate flavored chips thrown in the mix. The flavor was great and the texture was very similar to similar bars such as Special K and Kudos. The bar held me over for a replacement breakfast one morning when I was on the run. This bar has a few extra grams of fiber (10g) and still weighs in at 6g protein with only 5g sugar alcohols (7 net carbs; ok for phases 2,3, and 4).

This second bar from Atkins is called a Fruit Crumble Bar. Again, the product looked very appealing and almost identical to the picture. The Fruit Crumble Bar was a little more dense than the Chocolate Oatmeal Fiber bar and tasted sweeter (most likely due to the blueberry/apple/plum puree on top. Very good flavor and texture; the flavor combination between the yummy soy crisps and the fruit topping was a nice change from some of the traditionally plain bars such as the Advantage Peanut Butter Granola Bar (one of my favs). The Fruit Crumble Bar has 8g fiber, 4g sugar alcohols but contains even more protein weighing in at 10g (4 net carbs; all phases)!
