Female massage at Aquae Sulis Spa
Relax with one of six "Ahhhpricot" summer treatments

An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but did you know that apricots have been used throughout centuries for healing and wellness as well? Not surprisingly, the Aquae Sulis Spa at JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa did, and that’s why it has incorporated the fruit into its new summer treatments.

Offered through Sept. 1, the six summer specialty services are designed to delight and uplift the senses while using all-natural ingredients from the Eminence Organic Skin Care line. Guests can choose from the 50-minute “Ahhhpricot” Facial for $140 (which includes a free lip treatment); the 50-minute “Ahhhpricot” manicure or 80-minute pedicure for $60 and $100, respectively; the 25-minute “Ahhhpricot” Body Scrub for $70; the 45-minute “Ahhhpricot” Vichy Treatment for $140; or the 80-minute “Ahhhpricot” Body Treatment for $170. While each service is tempting, if time isn’t an issue, the “Ahhhpricot” Body Treatment is a must.

The treatment begins with an application of Eminence’s yummy-smelling Apricot Sugar Scrub to help soothe and refine your skin. Not only does the scrub contain apricot juice and pulp to help moisturize your skin and provide essential vitamins and nutrients, but it also contains Echinacea, among other key ingredients, to act as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Once your feet, legs and back have been scrubbed down, your masseuse will use a warm, moist towel to wipe some of the sugar scrub off so you can flip over onto your back and the scrub can be applied to your arms and stomach. Once the front of your body has been scrubbed down, the masseuse will put an extra dollop of the scrub on your upper chest area (if you’re a woman) so that you can exfoliate the rest of your chest, if you so desire. Then, you’ll be asked to get up and step inside a shower (conveniently located in the treatment room) to wash the remainder of the scrub off (since some of the scrub will have already been wiped off of your backside at this point, it shouldn’t be too hard to leave the treatment table, as you won’t be excessively sticky and sticking to the sheets).

Once you’ve rinsed off the scrub, your skin now silky smooth, you’ll be asked to lay face-up on the treatment table so that Eminence’s Pear & Green Apple Body Wrap can be applied to your body. Similar to the Apricot Sugar Scrub, this wrap smells delicious! After your legs, stomach, back and arms have been covered in the gooey stuff (once again, the masseuse will give you an extra dollop of the wrap to rub on your chest, if you so desire), you’ll be wrapped up in plastic, hot towels and whatever else the masseuse can get her (or his) hands on to help your body heat up so that the wrap can penetrate your skin and work its magic. As you lie wrapped up in the cocoon for 20 minutes, letting your pores open up so that the wrap can tone and nourish your skin, a relaxing neck, scalp and foot massage is performed to help you forget about the fact you’re pouring sweat! And, unlike some other wraps where the masseuse only massages you for half the time you’re wrapped up (if at all), with this treatment, the relaxing massages don’t stop until it’s time for you to come out of your cocoon! Both the neck and scalp massage and the foot massage take about 10 minutes each, making the time you’re spent wrapped up like a burrito seem to fly by.

Aquae Sulis Spa waterfall showerAfter 20 minutes have passed and the masseuse begins to unwrap you, you’ll be asked to step inside the shower once again to rinse off the body wrap. Then, you’ll return to the treatment table one final time so that some of Eminence’s Apricot Body Oil can be gently massaged into your skin to help soothe and hydrate it. In addition to apricot kernel oil, which assists the skin in retaining elasticity, clarity and suppleness, Eminence’s Apricot Body Oil also contains grape seed oil to help reduce the look of lines and wrinkles and sea-buckthorn oil to help protect the skin cell membrane--just what the doctor ordered during these revealing, sun-kissed summer months! By the time your treatment is complete, your skin will not only look and feel completely rejuvenated, but it will also smell great. Don’t be surprised if someone stops you in the casino to ask, “What’s that you’re wearing?”

Since you won’t want to wash off the Apricot Oil after it’s applied, you’ll want to arrive at least an hour to 90 minutes before your treatment so that you can enjoy all Aquae Sulis has to offer. In addition to daily fitness classes, Aquae Sulis also features a gorgeous co-ed outdoor area complete with its own sauna, steam room, whirlpool and Hydro-circuit pool, as well as private men’s and women’s Ritual Rooms with their own warm float pool, hot and cool plunge pools, sauna, steam room and waterfall showers. There’s also a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a delicious (and healthy!) spa menu available to cure any hunger pangs. With all that Aquae Sulis has to offer its guests, it’s no surprise that you can easily find yourself spending the entire day there--making the cost of a treatment well worth the price!

Aquae Sulis Spa is located at 221 N. Rampart Blvd. inside the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa. It is open daily from 5:30 a.m.-8 p.m. For more information, call 702-869-7807, or to book your appointment online, visit Aquae Sulis’ online reservation page.
