Sunday afternoon, after a lovely bike ride around town, my husband and I stumbled upon Le Central (112 E 8th Ave). This
"affordable French" restaurant is much more than affordable during their weekend happy hour. From 3 to 5 pm, Thursday through Sunday, enjoy more than 20 small plates for $2 or less.
I suggest the Pate de Campagne (country style pate), Beignets de Legume (vegetable fritter with aioli), and Moules Provencales (mussels on the 1/2 shell, butter, garlic bread crumbs). Happy hour is always served with the house wine ($3) or a Capuccino ($2). We sipped on the homemade sangria, but next time, may opt for the $20 bottle of champagne.
When dining at Le Central, a seat in the sun-filled, glassed-in, patio is a must. The quiet atmosphere allows for great conversation with a friend, and is certainly not suited for the rowdy college crowd.
If it's a special event, don't miss out on their amazing, desserts, customized for any occasion.
