Free in NYC-- How the NY Public Library is helping you with your job search (Part 2)

Aside from the obvious “extensive researching tools and resources” and breathtaking cultural attributes discussed in my last article, the New York Public Library has even more to offer to unemployed citizens. They recently reopened their Job Search Central (formerly Job Information Center) service dedicated to unemployment and getting job-seekers back on their feet, providing every necessary resource available.
Free classes:
An overview of print and electronic collections and hands-on training for SIBL resources
Recent classes include: Green Jobs: Career, Industry, Technology & Product Research for a Jumpstart on Tomorrow's Jobs and Searching Bloomberg.
Employment and Education databases
Available with your library card (and some via your computer at home!)
Free Saturday Workshops Series
At various NYPL branch locations, these workshops assist you in clarifying your career goals and searching for available positions.

FREE one-on-one counseling for jobs and careers
Computer Courses
FREE Beginning and intermediate level courses, including ones specifically for people over 50
Practice Classes
