The nation’s unemployment rate is up again.  In May, the rate climbed to 9.4% from 8.9% in April. Job losses were most severe in manufacturing, while there were fewer losses in construction and the service industries.

14.5-million people are now counted as unemployed. Just about half of those people lost their jobs since the start of the recession in December 2007.

The number of long term unemployed, people who have been out of work for at least 27 weeks, has tripled since the start of the recession
 
Also, during the recession more than 9-million people have taken part time jobs to help make ends meet.
