Unemployment rate up again in California
Despite signs the economy is on a slow road to recovery, the unemployment rate rose again in California. In Northern California the numbers were mixed with some counties showing improved jobless numbers.

In California almost 69,000 jobs were lost in May forcing the unemployment rate to 11.5%. In April it was 11.1%. Although more than 16-million Californians are working more than 700,000 jobs have been lost statewide in the past year.
The five counties which make up the Sacramento region fared somewhat better than the rest of the state (see chart). While job losses continued in Sacramento and Placer, the unemployment rate was down in San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Yolo counties.
The nation’s unemployment rate is substantially lower. It is at 9.4%
