David Munnelly toured with the Cheiftains and DeDanaan, but now reflects on the roots of what is now considered Irish "traditional" music, much to the delight of patrons at the Long's Peak Highland Festival in Estes Park Colorado.

Mick Bolger of Colcannon says that many Irish were influenced by American jazz music when growing up, and he considers Munnelly as a fine example of how that influence adds body and life to the trad tunes so popular in today's Celtic music.

In addition to David on the button accordion, Munnelly includes members from Mayo, Dublin, Donegal, Tyrone and, Brighton,England. The exciting sextet combines button accordion, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, piano, bodhrán and flute for a high-spirited instrumental sound colored with a bit of jazz and ragtime, and extraordinary percussive dancing topped with the singing of All-Ireland champion Shauna Mullin.
