A new social shopping and product review website was launched this morning called Tibesti (www.tibesti.com). Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA and run by CEO Mike Hale, Tibesti is set to make a positive splash into the social shopping scene by mixing thousands of expert product reviews with the ability for users to recommend and sell their favorite products online and receive 50 percent of the proceeds in return.

Any time you are able to combine trustworthy product reviews, competitive product pricing and the ability for your users to earn extra money you are on the right track to having a fast growing and popular website. Tibesti is an interesting name for a website, one that shows the confidence of the founders. Tibesti is a mountain range in the Sahara desert representing being on top of a mountain or for being the best.

Tibesti is off to a good start and have a couple key components that differentiates them from their competitors but like most areas of the Internet they are not the only company combining traditional online shopping with a social networking MySpace type environment. Tibesti will be competing with Kaboodle, Stylehive, Yahoo Shoposphere, Zlio, MyPickList, Storrz and Yelp to name just a few. Healthy competition can act as a great motivator in the Internet business world, keeping a company on their toes, forcing them to innovate their product continuously and reminding them constantly that if they put their guard down and relax several other companies will be happy to take their users. From what Tibesti is initially displaying it seems that they will be perfectly fine and very successful. Stay tuned and find out.
