The San Jose Giants on Sunday named left fielder Thomas Neal their 2009 Most Valuable Player.

Neal, a 37th round pick in 2005, leads the Giants in hitting (.333), runs (96), hits (149), doubles (39), walks (59) and slugging percentage (.589). He is second in home runs (22) and RBI’s (86).

The Inglewood, CA native had a team-high 15-game hitting streak from June 1-19. And he hit for the cycle at Lancaster on April 28th, the third San Jose Giant to accomplish that feat.

Neal, a fourth year pro, was one of three San Jose Giants named to the California League All-Star team, along with Roger Kieschnick and Buster Posey.

Neal’s honor was the final regular season award given by the Giants. Here are the others:

Pitcher of the Year: Craig Clark
Offensive Player of the Year: Roger Kieschnick
Relief Pitcher of the Year: Daniel Turpen
Defensive Player of the Year: Brian Bocock
Nette Rappe Good Guy Award: Skyler Stromsmoe
