Three Giants make Cal League all-star team

Catcher Buster Posey and outfielder Thomas Neal will start for the California League in the June 23 California-Carolina All-Star game.

Outfielder Roger Kieschnick was named as a reserve player when the rosters were announced Monday afternoon. The game will be played at the Diamond, home of the Lake Elsinore Storm.

Posey, San Francisco’s number one draft pick in 2008, is hitting .307 and leads the Giants in RBI’s (41) and is tied with Neal in home runs (9).

The 21-year-old Neal is in his fourth professional season and leads the Giants with a .333 average.

Kieschnick, in his first pro season after playing three years at Texas Tech University, is having a solid season batting.302, with seven homers and 30 RBI’s.

The California League will be managed by Carlos Lezcano of Lake Elsinore.
