San Jose’s seven-game winning streak came to an end Monday night in Modesto as Nut pitchers held the Giants to five hits in a 5-1 victory.
Modesto’s Joey Williamson (8-0) pitched five innings of two-hit baseball, giving up one run while walking two and striking out six. His eight wins are tied for the California League lead. Ching Lo and Matthew Reynolds combined on three innings of shutout relief.
San Jose’s Paul Oseguera (0-3) failed again in his attempt for his first victory since being called up from Augusta. He gave up four earned runs in 4 2/3 innings.
Tyler Graham knocked in San Jose’s only run in the fifth inning when he singled home Darren Ford. Buster Posey missed his third consecutive game after being hit in the head by a pitch on June 26.
The three-game series wraps up Tuesday night at 7:05 at John Thurman Field. Joe Martinez is scheduled to make his second rehab start for the Giants.
