Roger Kieschnick’s six runs batted in supported eight solid innings from Garrett Broshuis as San Jose beat Stockton, 7-1 Saturday night at Municipal Stadium.
Kieschnick went three-for-four with two home runs (14, 15) as the Giants rightfielder extended his hitting streak to 12 games, and the team won its season-high sixth straight. Nick Noonan, Thomas Neal and Brian Bocock also had multi-hit games.
Broshius (6-1) gave up just one unearned run in eight innings, scattering four hits while striking out five and walking none. He won his fourth straight decision while lowering his ERA to 2.15. It was Broshuis’s 22nd career victory in a San Jose uniform, a team record. He was relieved in the ninth inning by Dan Runzler, who did not allow a run.
Buster Posey sat out the game as a precaution after being hit in the head by a pitch in Friday night’s contest.
The Giants sweep the three-game series with the Ports and now hold a 15-4 edge on the season. They head to Modesto Sunday to start a three-game series against the Nuts at John Thurman Field. Clayton Tanner (5-2) is scheduled to start for San Jose against Modesto’s Brandon Durden (3-2).
