
Brian Bocock’s second-inning grand slam highlighted San Jose’s 7-3 victory over Modesto Saturday at Municipal Stadium. It was the Giants’ fourth win in a row and puts them into a tie with the Nuts for second place in the California League North.
Bocock’s homer was his second of the season and it came off Modesto starter Kenneth Durst (2-4). Angel Villalona added his ninth homer in the eighth inning.
For Modesto, Radames Nazario hit a solo-shot in the off San Jose starter Craig Clark, who pitched 5 2/3 innings to get his sixth victory. Clark gave up three runs (one earned) and five hits while striking out eight. Wilmin Rodriguez, Daniel Turpen and Daniel Runzler combined for 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Scheduled pitchers for game three of the series Sunday are Oliver Odle (2-6) for the Giants against Bruce Billings (5-5) of Modesto. Game time is 2 p.m. at Municipal Stadium.
