Vice President? Are you kidding me!
Rick Snider talks about the good vibrations emanating from Zorn’s version of the WCO.

Jason Reid agrees the players are growing nicely in Zorn’s system.

Brett Favre is starting Saturday night, which means we will get a glimpse of what we missed, or what we deftly ignored

John Keim reports that LaRon Landry and Devin Thomas could play against the Jets.

In the words of Darth Vader, Marcus Mason “may yet be of some use to us.”
The key graph:

Aside from his fumbled kickoff return, Mason had another A+ game and the Redskins might have to find a way to keep four RBs on the roster, assuming all are healthy. It'll be interesting to see where they get that spot from. Based on the first two games, they shouldn't look to skimp on the secondary. Those guys look like they'll need all the help they can get. Leigh Torrence, Justin Tryon and Byron Westbrook had some trouble at times Saturday and, with Carlos Rogers coming off major knee surgery, they need numbers there. They're also a little short at safety and the linebackers, who assume heavy coverage duties in certain packages with this defense, are stretched thin as well. It'll be an especially interesting numbers game come September.

Rich Tandler is coming around on that point, but still has reservations i.e. the issues in the secondary and linebacker. As I said, the defense is vulnerable to a short and intermediate passing attack.  This tradeoff makes for a touch decision for the coaching staff.

Odds n Ends:

Prayers go out to Joe Bugel and his family. Bugel’s daughter is battling a rare form of bone cancer.

Erasmus James is off the PUP list and on the active roster. He practiced this morning.

Antwan Randle-El’s hand is fine. We will need both of them.

Anthony Mix has a broken rib. He injured it covering a punt return against the Bills. I literally had a bird’s eye view of the play as the Skins punted toward the end of the field where my seats are. Mix was first to the punt returner. It appeared the injury came when one of Mix’s teammates added a hit to the scrum, right where he was trying to tackle the return man. Mix fell hard and you knew he wasn’t getting up easily from that.

Matt Terl at THE TORB is pimpin rides.  If I haven't said before I will say it now, Mike Sellers has style. This reminds me I need to get my Volvo tricked out.  Don't laugh.  Seriously,  you would be amazed at the possibilites an XC-90 presents.

Matt also shows how the PR staff ensures that our boys don't pull a James Hetfield when the pyrotechnics go off during pre-game introductions.  Speaking of Metallica, I love the fact that Enter Sandman is still on the playlist between plays.

I wonder what the reaction of my left leaning Redskin brethren will be if Barack Obama selects Heath Shuler as his running mate? Talk about out of touch.

Apparently, Shuler can’t hit a baseball when it counts either, just like his wide receivers.
