The Nutshell
No offense, no pass rush, fumbles, penalties… same old Redskins. On a cold soggy day at FedEx Field the Giants win 23-7, the Redskins fall to 7-5, and out of the last Wild Card spot.

Offense
The Giants took away the run and forced Jason Campbell to beat them with his arm. He couldn’t. The Giants generated just enough pressure and his receivers failed him with crucial drops. Ironically he led the team in rushing with 38 yards. Devin Thomas’ score on the gimmick pitch back to make 13-7 late in the second quarter made things a bit interesting.

Perhaps a game would have een made of it, but Shaun Suisham again missed a makeable kick that would have cut the Giant lead to three points going into halftime.

Grade: F

Defense
They took away the run for most of the game, but Eli Manning torched our four cover corners for 305 yards and a touchdown. The Giants run game eventually broke through racking up 108 yards.

Grade: D

Special Teams
In addition to Suisham’s missed field goal the punt return team again failed to down a good punt inside the five-yard line.

Grade: D

Up Next: The Ravens…I can hear their annoying fans crowing all the way up the parkway.

The Redskins once again stood next to an NFL measuring stick and found themselves wanting. The playoffs are not out of reach however, with Atlanta rounding out what looks like a solid NFC South triumvirate the Redskins’ chances of getting to the post season are dwindling. What I find fascinating is that both the Cowboys and the Redskins could end up with winning records and still be on the outside looking in come January.
