The CBS Sportsline contest between Chief Zee and Poe of the Ravens has stopped early. I perused the comments section and apparently the accusations of voter fraud are flying up and down the BW Parkway. Apparently ,there is some macro thingamajig that allows one person to register 40,000 votes. I was wondering how the vote total was up into the millions.
Anyway, the contest, as fun and distracting as an office timewaster can be, was fairly silly. However, it does provide proof that there is, at least among the fans, antagonism between the Redskins and Ravens.
Seems to me someone at NFL headquarters in New York should look into making the Baltimore-Washington tilt a consistently scheduled regular season matchup. Economically speaking it would draw more fans and dollars to Fed-Ex and M&T than say a Redskins-Texans or Ravens-Cardinals game. I would think the bean counters in the team travel offices wouldn't mind seeing this either.
The regional matchups work phenomenally well for MLB's interleague play, why not for the NFL? I would bet dimes to dollars that Raider fans and 49er fans would readily forego games against NFC East/AFC East teams respectively, in order to see their teams battle over Bay area bragging rights. Same for the Jets and Giants, Cowyboys-Texans, Eagles-Steelers and Buccaneers-Dolphins/Jaguars.
