The annual Kokanee Salmon Festival will take place October 3rd and 4th at the Taylor Creek Visitors Center,  a wonderful family event at Lake Tahoe.

Throughout the month of October, your family can take a private photography tour of South Lake Tahoe, including a visit to Taylor Creek to see the Kokanee Salmon run.  This tour departs at 8:30a, from your South Lake Tahoe Hotel, and returns you to your hotel around 12:30p.

According to event organizers,

Over the years one of the most popular events at the Festival for children has been the fish painting booth where children participate in the oriental art of fish painting. Other events at the Festival will include educational booths by Project Kokanee, California Fish and Game, Lahontan National Fish Hatchery, a black bear display by the Nevada Division Wildlife and the Tahoe Council for Wild Bears, a bald eagle display by Forest Service biologists, self-guided nature tours and Kokanee Salmon T-shirt sales. El Dorado County Library and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will also have booths.

Back this year wil be the following events:

  • Salmon Feed, Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care will again be serving a delicious barbecue salmon plate Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
  • Marathon Kokanee Trail Run at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday at the Taylor Creek Snopark parking lot,
  • 1/2k kids tadpole trot at 9:15 a.m. on Sunda at the Taylor Creek Snopark parking lot,
