Are you looking for a way to get educated and connect with your local community, in regards to human trafficking, sex slavery and social justice? If so, below might be an event that you might want to check out this weekend. I will be reviewing this event, and posting next week specifically in regards to the panels, and the films they will be showcasing.
Film, Faith, and Justice 2009 is a film and lecture series developed by The Other Journal and featuring the films of the Human Rights Watch Traveling Film Festival, some being premiered for the first time in Seattle.
Correlating speaker presentations and panel discussions will articulate personal and communal responses to modern issues of injustice such as poverty, violence, immigration, and social responsibility through the lens of religious faith more broadly, and the Judeo-Christian tradition more specifically.
This forum is being hosted in Seattle at Seattle First Presbyterian Church. It will feature keynote addresses and panel discussions featuring notable theologians, social advocates, and local community leaders.
This event welcomes the public, community leaders, students, teachers, churches, non-profit organizations staff, and advocacy groups - anyone who is interested in exploring the theological implications of pursuing a vocation and lifestyle directed toward social justice.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the door (cash only).
Discounted pricing is offered to students, educators, non-profit employees, and clergy.
Pricing is as follows:
Weekend Pass: $35/$25
Block Ticket: $9/$6
Film Pass: $7/$5
