What happens in Vegas... well, as far as I'm concerned, what happens gets reported by your humble Underground Travel Examiner. I'm back from a week working at the Riviera, paid my taxes and lived to see another year as an un-incarcerated model citizen, my babies.

Maybe not too much Sin City survival advice to give, as I stayed for free at the Riv, sunned and swam at the pool and ate for free at the employee cafeteria. I did, however, get out there several days for several Urban Death Marches, Vegas style. There’s plenty of sights and sounds on the hoof. Every mega-Mecca has an eye catcher. There’s lions and sharks and beautiful gardens, dancing waters and pirate battles, all for the price of a well worn pair of sneakers.

I did want to add another tip to my ever-growing list of hotel-motel sanity preservers. There’s a good chance that your Do Not Disturb door sign is still the good old school version- the over the door knob type. I know these have been modernized in some places to inserts for the key card slot as well as other modifications, but let’s stick with the classic.

As we also know, hotel stays often include crazy neighbors. Late night lunatics and youth hockey rascals, all who find it hilarious to alter all the door knob signs on their floor.

That’s why I always implement the tuck and close method. I always ‘tuck’ the DND card into the doorway before closing the door, whether coming or going. This securely anchors your wishes and ruins the folly of many a gremlin.

Sorry, Mr. Practical Joker, Daddy needs his beauty sleep.
