Colorado rivers and streams running high - be careful!
A 54-year old woman from Enid, OK was recently rescued from Glacier Creek in Rocky Mountain National Park. While posing for a picture, she stepped too far back and slipped in. Despite suffering from a broken wrist and hypothermia, she was rescued with no major harm. Others have also been swept away in recent days with the latest weather patterns to hit Colorado.
With all streams and rivers running really high this year due to all the rain the state has gotten, Colorado waterways can be deceivingly enticing for adults and children alike. Many people like to wade out to rocks or even take a dip, believing that the waters are safe.
But, in many areas, this is not the case. The water is moving fast, and the currents are strong. So be careful when participating in water sports or even just taking a picture near the water. Watch kids near shorelines and river beds. The rivers and streams are more dangerous than they appear.
