On a holiday Friday, with Ronn Owens off, fill-in Jim Gabbert pulled off a great first hour of his show.
The topic covered the things the public is NOT being told about modern air crashes and it was chilling to hear the pilots who could call anonymously and reveal things.
Gabbert, the former radio and TV station owner, owns a Boeing 727 with a glass cockpit, and knows of which he speaks about aircraft. He had planned to have as guests some people who had inside knowlege of the construction of Airbus planes, such as the one that went down on its way from South America to France.
At times the show threatened to get too techie for the general public, but overall, it was fascinating, the kind of radio you might get on NPR, with real insider knowlege.Who knew that planes were being made so shoddily these days, with composites, rather than pure aluminum, even in the hinges?
It was scary to hear one pilot comment that most of what the public hears about planes crashes is just plain wrong.
Check out an hour or great radio here.
